GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
Under the general supervision of the Recreation Program Manager (Rec Manager) plans, organizes, and provides quality swimming and water safety instruction.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plans, organizes, and teaches class-using outlines provided by the Rec Manager and the American Red Cross Swimming Program in order to provide a high-level of quality instruction.
- Insures that all class students are registered prior to beginning class, are thoroughly involved, are on a first-name personalized basis in meaningful instruction for the duration of the class.
- Establishes positive relations with parents/guardians of class participants,
- Enforces pool safety standards and facility operational rules for all individuals using the facility.
OTHER FUNCTIONS & EXPECTATIONS:
- Work as a team player with other members of the aquatic staff.
- Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor, including abiding by uniform requirements.
- Be an ambassador to the community. Greet all visitors; resident and non-resident, politely and positively.
- Inspect, clean, and maintain class equipment.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be at least 16 years of age.
High School and or College swimming experience preferred. One class of assistant teaching in swimming also preferred.
License/Certifications:
American Red Cross or Equivalent Water Safety Instructor preferred OR Lifeguarding preferred.
Basic Life Support CPR and AED training for professional rescuers.
Hours: Tuesday or Thursday Evenings from 5:30-7:30 and/or Saturday Mornings from 10:00 am – 12:30pm. From March 8 – May 31.
