The Town of Sharon seeks a skilled individual with strong analytical and customer service skills to join the Treasurer/Collector staff as a full-time Financial Assistant (37.5 hours/week; M-W, 8-5; Th. 8-6; F 8-12:30). Position responsibilities include collections, deposits, posting payments, reconciling receivables and processing town payroll.
Duties include but are not limited to:
Qualifications and Experience: Associate’s Degree desired with three years’ experience, preferably in a municipality, performing similar duties. Knowledge of Massachusetts General Laws as they pertain to treasury, collecting and payroll and benefits desired.
Starting Salary: $49,512; increasing to $50,626 on July 1, 2025 and increasing to $51,639 on first anniversary date. Generous benefits offered, including health, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, flexible spending accounts and retirement plans.

Duties include but are not limited to:
- Processes weekly payroll for Town employees, and tracks accruals.
- Collects all payments made to the town; balances daily receipts; enters all payments into a core accounting system.
- Maintains cash book and record of departmental receipts and disbursements; maintains books and records of all investments and bank accounts of the town as assigned.
- Prepares municipal lien certificates.
- Processes cash receipts within core accounting system. Reconciles daily activity with Deputy Collector.
- Initiate and process refunds to taxpayers due to abatements and/or overpayments.
- Provides prompt, courteous customer service. Requires constant contact with the general public, all town departments, bankers, mortgage companies, attorneys, and state/county agencies.
