Primary Work Location: In/around the Town buildings, with reporting, office duties and meetings at Town Hall
POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for the daily operations necessary to maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of all Town building areas in accordance with standard operating procedures. This position is also required to offer additional support to the Public Works department when needed and assigned.
This position will be working after business hours in some buildings and will require a varied schedule beyond the normal set hours. This could include over-time on an as needed basis, some later nights after meetings, and possible weekend hours.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- · Provides the highest level of customer service and professionalism to all internal and external customers
- · Collects and removes trash from public property
- · Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, and vacuuming
- · Set up, arrange, and remove decorations, tables, chairs, ladders, and scaffolding to prepare facilities for events such as banquets and meetings
- · Maintain clean facilities by performing weekly duties and daily cleaning/disinfecting in all public areas
- · Performing required building and light equipment maintenance including but not limited to changing light bulbs and painting
- · Wash, clean, disinfect, deodorize, and maintain restrooms to an orderly and sanitary level
- · Replace toilet paper, paper towels, soap, deodorizer, etc. when needed
- · Perform other facilities related duties as assigned
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- · Knowledge of relevant local, state, and federal regulations, and Town protocols and procedures
- · Skilled in the use of hand and power tools
- · Ability to change various filters in Town buildings, including HVAC, AC units, etc.
- · Ability to check blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs as necessary
- · Knowledge and proper handling of hazardous materials associated with operations
- · Establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external contacts such as outside vendors and contractors
- · Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures
- · Effective oral and written communication skills
- · Ability to provide superior customer service to everyone by responding in a courteous and efficient manner
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- · A minimum of two (2) years of experience in a maintenance or janitorial work environment, preferred.
- · High school diploma or equivalent.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- · Must regularly lift and/or move up to 80 pounds
- · Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach with hands and arms
- · Frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- · Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license at all times

- · Subject to a background investigation required to work within the Smyrna Police Department and pre-employment physical
