This classification is responsible for performing lifeguarding duties at the City swimming pool. Duties and responsibilities include informing patrons of pool rules and regulations, enforcing rules and regulations, responding to emergency situations, and administering CPR and first aid. Reports to Program & Aquatic Coordinator.
NOTE: May require weekends and afternoon/evening hours.
- Informs patrons of the rules and regulations to be observed in and around the pool and enforces such rules and regulations to minimize or eliminate hazardous situations.
- Observes users in their pool activities and respond quickly to all emergency situations in the water assisting anyone in distress or rescuing anyone in drowning situations.
- Administers emergency CPR and first aid until qualified medical personnel arrive.
- Cleans and maintains locker rooms, pool deck, and restrooms.
- Brushes pool/skims pool.
- Performs general housekeeping duties such as taking out the trash and cleaning food areas.
- Performs routine chemical checks on water.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be at least 16 years of age.
- Must be able to complete AED training and Lifeguard certification training within 30 days of beginning employment.
