What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mountain Bike Instructor position at Town of Snowmass Village, Colorado?
The Town of Snowmass Village is looking to hire a Mountain Bike Instructor to join our Parks, Recreation and Trails team!
This is an in-person part-time position, offering part-time benefits and scheduled to start working on or after May 2025
We are looking for a Mountain Bike Instructor that will assists with the planning and execution of mountain bike programs, will supervise participants to ensure their safety and well-being, communicates effectively and work cooperatively with participants, families, and supervisors.
Some of the day-to-day duties are listed below:
- Ensures the enjoyment and safety of all participants by maintaining the program site, implementing safe practices, and leading well organized activities.
- Uses creativity and ingenuity to develop a variety of activities, games, lessons, and ride routes.
- Educate participants on mountain bike skills, techniques and trail etiquette.
- Ensure that daily programs meet the general needs of participants by making any reasonable accommodations specific to guests as necessary.
- Participate in pre-season staff orientation/training program. Attend staff meetings and in- service trainings.
- Organize and lead special activities, enrichment and bike programs, and other recreational activities.
- Lead or Co-lead an activity group of up to 6 campers through MTB rides/instruction.
- Submit lesson plans/ideas and supply requests to the Program Coordinator or Lead MTB Instructor
- Work in cooperation with all staff to create fun, exciting programs for participants of all ages.
- Dress appropriately when on duty.
- Communicate to parents any necessary information that they would need, such as times and proper equipment needed, etc. Relay information, skills and lesson recap to parents.
- Clearly lay out all expectations for the program to both parents and participants.
- Assist Program Coordinator in scheduling rides and/or scheduled program instruction.
- Understand and effectively deliver curriculum to lead events for participants ranging in age from youth to adult and facilitate events according to planned curriculum and engage youth and adults in rides and activities.
- Care for all equipment, supplies, records and facilities.

The ideal candidate has the following qualifications:
- Must demonstrate intermediate to advanced mountain biking skills with the ability to instruct others on Town of Snowmass Village Trails.
- Any combination of experience and training equivalent to graduation from high school; some college level work in courses related to recreation programming is desirable.
First Aid and CPR prior to start (can facilitate this training in house if needed). - PMBIA or similar cycling specific training, preferred but not required.
- Wilderness First Aid/First Responder certification preferred but not required.
- Enthusiasm, sense of humor, patience, self-control, good character, integrity and adaptability.
- Ability to deal with conflict professionally and effectively.
- Ability to relate to youth as well as one's peer group
