This is an in-person part-time position, offering part-time benefits
We are looking for a Parks & Trails Maintenance Specialist that will perform a variety of semi-skilled and skilled tasks that are associated with the accepted maintenance practices for all trails, parking lots, bridges, parks and gardens, drainage ways and fences. This position will start on May 1st and may be asked to work weekends, evenings, holidays, and special events as needed.

We are looking for a Parks & Trails Maintenance Specialist that will perform a variety of semi-skilled and skilled tasks that are associated with the accepted maintenance practices for all trails, parking lots, bridges, parks and gardens, drainage ways and fences. This position will start on May 1st and may be asked to work weekends, evenings, holidays, and special events as needed.
Some of the day-to-day duties are listed below:
- Provide general maintenance of park, gardens, open spaces and parking lots by picking up trash and debris, trimming trees, mowing grass, changing trash bags in trash cans, landscaping grounds, repairing playground equipment, picnic tables, cleaning restrooms, removing snow, and operating heavy equipment, as needed
- Maintain all paved and natural surface trails, drainage, washouts, vandalism, bridge repair, sign and fence repair, renovation, preventive maintenance, application of pesticides, sweeping, asphalt repair, snow removal equipment operation, and assisting with new trail construction. This also includes inspections and documentation involving decisions on the renovation, repair or design of Town trails, gardens and parks, parking lots drainage ways and bridges.
- Operate, maintain and cares for assigned tools, radios, tractors, trucks, motorized equipment, and other materials as needed.
- Works weekends, evenings, holidays, special events, as needed.
The ideal candidate has the following qualifications:
- Working knowledge, or ability to learn, trail maintenance and construction, turf and ornamental garden care, landscaping, and irrigation specific equipment such as: mowers, tractors, aerators, chainsaws, edger's, trimmers, blowers, hand and power tools, irrigation pumps, compressors, trenchers, multi-meters, wire locators, etc.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- One year of skilled labor experience or any combination equivalent that is inherent to parks, trails, turf, and/ or open space maintenance.
- General knowledge of parks and trails maintenance practices and techniques and ability to learn landscape maintenance methods regarding planting and caring for plants, trees, shrubs and lawns.
- Valid driver's license.
