NATURE OF WORK
The IT Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting hardware and software systems, providing technical support to end-users, and ensuring the smooth operation of computer systems, networks, and applications.
This role involves working closely with employees across all town departments, assisting them with hardware and software issues, setting up new devices, and maintaining security protocols.
EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Provide technical support to end-users, diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, and network issues.
Install, configure, and maintain desktops, laptops, printers, and other IT equipment.
Assist with network troubleshooting, including routers, switches, and Wi-Fi configurations.
Manage user accounts, passwords, and access controls within Active Directory or other services.
Support IT security measures by updating systems with patches and antivirus software.
Resolving support tickets promptly, communicating solutions clearly to staff, and escalating tickets when needed.
Document troubleshooting steps, technical procedures, and system configurations.
Assist with setting up and maintaining IT infrastructure, including servers and cloud-based applications.
Provide training and guidance to employees on basic IT procedures and best practices.
Collaborate with senior IT staff to implement technology solutions and improvements.
Perform routine system maintenance, backups, and updates to ensure optimal performance.
Assist with the planning, design, research, and acquisition of new or upgraded hardware and software systems; maintain current knowledge of hardware, software, and network technology and recommend modifications, as necessary.
Assists with creating and maintaining annual budget, capital projects recommendations, and technology replacement plan.
Records and broadcasts public meetings as well as other town events and productions.
Creates and posts content for social media platforms.
Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
