Job Summary
The Town of Southborough, MA is seeking to hire a Deputy Town Clerk. This full-time position performs administrative, supervisory and support work related to managing elections, maintaining accurate records of births, deaths and marriages, licenses and permits, the annual town census, annual town meetings, and office administration.
The successful candidate will have a demonstrated history of working effectively with the public, providing excellent customer service and resolving customer concerns quickly and effectively. Adherence to deadlines, along with a demonstrated history of exceptional attention to detail is required. The successful candidate must have a demonstrated history of improving office efficiency and productivity through innovation.
The Town Clerk’s office consists of the Town Clerk, the Deputy Town Clerk, a part-time Assistant TownClerk, a part-time Digital Archivist, part-time senior citizen workers, and a large group of election workers during election periods. The successful candidate will work with this team to seek ways to improve customer service, improve efficiency through access to digitized historical records, introduce new technology, and increase residents’ ability to access information.
Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word and Access is required.
Education, Experience, Special Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, public administration, or related field is preferred
- Five years of progressively responsible private sector/public/municipal sector experience
- Must be eligible to be bonded
- A valid driver’s license is required
- A CORI check will be performed
Salary
The salary range for this full-time position is $66,768 - $88,130, starting salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
