The Town of Southbridge Recreation Department introduces a great opportunity for a part-time seasonal Summer Program Director.
The Position:
The Summer Program Director designs summer programs that meet the needs and interests of the target population and ensures their delivery in a safe and quality manner. This position hires and trains summer program staff, manages payroll, determines summer program daily activities, and supervises interactions of all participants and councilors. The position available is part-time, 20 hours weekly, Monday through Friday for a six-week period. This position is not eligible for benefits. Wage of $19.02 per hour.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Three to five years’ experience in recreation and sport-related activities or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Possession of a valid motor vehicle operator’s license.
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
- Ability to work in various outdoor summer weather conditions.
Our Ideal Candidate:
- Familiarity with the principles and practices of recreational management and/or athletic program protocol, materials, methods, safety precautions, and techniques relative to recreational maintenance operations.
- Working knowledge of coaching and officiating techniques and practices.
- Ability to deal diplomatically with the general public, parents, and coaches.
- Ability to supervise part-time Recreation positions and coach counselors in the proper handling of program participant conflicts or other issues.
