What are the responsibilities and job description for the Guest Services Associate I/II position at Town of Superior?
This is a part-time position working at the Town's Community Center, which is open year-round. Workweek and working hours vary with assignments Monday through Sunday and include evenings, weekends, and select holidays. The Guest Services Associate provides administrative, reception and program support for the Town's Community Center. The position requires frequent patron and customer contact both in person and on the phone. This position works under the supervision of the Recreation Supervisor - Facilities in conjunction with the Guest Services Specialist, and is non-exempt under FLSA.
Guest Services Associate I – Under immediate supervision, this is the entry-level class in the Guest Services Associate series. Incumbents entering the class have minimal directly related work experience. Generally, work is observed and reviewed both during performance and upon completion.
Guest Services Associate II - Under general supervision, this is the journey-level class in the Guest Services Associate series. Incumbents assigned to this class are expected to perform the full range of work assigned to this class and to work with independence and initiative. At this level, employees may give directions, establish priorities, coordinate work projects and monitor other personnel or volunteers. Incumbents work independently, exercising judgment and initiative. Employees train other staff on duties and safety practices, may assign and may exercise supervisory authority in the absence of the supervisor.
Hiring Range $18.20 - $22.26- Performs clerical duties including typing, filing, office machine operation, recreation software operation including cash handling and maintenance of records.
- Manages the phone activity including providing general knowledge to callers.
- Provides initial customer contact, determine/provide customer needs. Assist customers with check-in utilizing the appropriate check-in process.
- Process program registrations and facility rentals.
- Maintains proficient and knowledgeable of PROS department program offerings, policies, and procedures.
- Enforces policies, rules and regulations governing the conduct of patrons using the community center and the surrounding outdoor areas.
- Conducts facility tours when necessary.
- Performs facility opening and closing procedures.
- Represents the Town of Superior in a positive, professional manner to the community.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with customers contacted during work.
- Maintains common workspace and office equipment.
- Assists in maintaining cleanliness of facility.
- Performs and maintains accountability for end of shift financial reconciliation.
- Contributes to a positive work environment.
- Assists recreation staff in their duties and assignments.
- Provides assistance with the Town’s special events

Special License, Registration, or Certification Required:
Guest Services Associate I – Minimum of six (6) months of experience in customer service with computer and phone skills required. Experience with cash handling desirable. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered. Current certifications in First Aid and CPR/AED required.
Guest Services Associate II - High school diploma or equivalent required. Minimum of two (2) years of experience in customer service and with computer and phone skills required. Experience with cash handling desirable. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered. Current certifications in First Aid and CPR/AED required.
Work Environment: Most of the work will be at an indoor community center. The employee regularly works in an environment which will include exposure to noise and stressful situations. The noise level can range from low to very loud. This position requires some work to be performed outdoors during Town events which will include exposure to all types of weather and conditions.
