Overview
We are seeking a dedicated, energetic Maintenance and Zoning Supervisor to participate in and oversee the maintenance and repair of the Town buildings, equipment, parks and walkways, along with other Town functions, including street and stormwater maintenance. This person administers Zoning ordinances and assists in reviewing permit applications. This role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving, effective communication, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Responsibilities
- Plans, supervises, and participates in a variety of work such as: buildings and grounds maintenance, mowing, sidewalk maintenance, sign maintenance, minor street repairs and ditch maintenance, as well as beautification.
- Performs preventative and routine maintenance, and basic repairs on facilities, grounds, tools, and equipment.
- Ensures the aesthetic quality of the Town is retained at an elevated level by inspecting facilities and grounds to ensure the condition of the Town meets or exceeds community standards.
- Maintains storm drains and catch basins.
- Oversee project management tasks, ensuring projects are completed on time and within scope.
- Implements and administers Zoning/Subdivision policies, ordinances, and procedures.
- Accepts and reviews zoning permit applications; conducts preliminary review of plans and parcels using GIS.
- Investigates in response to zoning complaints and possible ordinance violations to include reviewing ordinances and issuing notices, and advises landowners of necessary corrective measures.
- Prepares the annual operating budget; submits recommendations for capital improvements of projects and services.
Experience
- Knowledge of equipment, facilities, materials, methods, and procedures used in maintenance, construction, and repair activities.
- Knowledge of permitting processes, zoning laws, and land-use regulations, to include knowledge of construction terms as appropriate to zoning reviews.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with elected officials, contractors, employees, and the general public.
- Ability to use independent judgment and discretion in the performance of duties.
- Planning, zoning, or permitting certifications are a plus.
