General Description of Duties
Lifeguards maintain the safety and well-being of all patrons in the pool and in the surrounding areas of the park by upholding the policies and rules set forth by the American Red Cross and The Trumbull Parks and Recreation Department. Lifeguards are expected to interact professionally and politely with the public including the instruction of swim lessons. Hours per week will vary depending on years of experience and season of the year.
Lifeguard applications are accepted year round.
Trumbull residents will be given preference. The Town of Trumbull reserves the right to verify all information reported on the application.
The number of available openings is dependent upon the current budget and the number of returnees from last year.

- Duties:
- To use the skills from the certifying course to maintain the well-being of patrons in the pool and surrounding areas.
- To know, enact and uphold the Emergency Action Plan in case of emergency.
- To learn and uphold the rules and policies set forth by the Trumbull Parks and Recreation Department.
- To administer first aid that is consistent with your training and Trumbull Parks and Recreation policy.
- To keep the pool and surrounding area free of debris and litter.
- Must be able to professionally and politely interact with patrons.
- To teach swim lessons.
- Reports disciplinary issues to pool supervisor
- Must have a valid Lifeguard/CPR/AED certification from the American Red Cross.
- Must be at least 16 years old.
- Must pass a swim test and complete all in-service rescue drills.
- Display maturity, enthusiasm, patience, sense of humor and self-control
- Must be able to maintain good working relationships with parents and staff
- Available for training periods before pool opens
- Must be able to comply with all CDC, State of Connecticut, Town of Trumbull, and Parks and Recreation Covid-19 policies and procedures
- Receives direct supervision from pool director and pool supervisors
