The Town of Vail, Colorado is seeking letters of interest, resumes, and compensation requirements from individuals interested in serving as Municipal Judge for the Town of Vail Municipal Court.

**Important Notice for Interested Parties**
Please note that applications for the Municipal Judge position cannot be submitted via the Town of Vail’s jobs portal. Instead, interested parties must follow the instructions outlined below to ensure their submission is considered:
- Submit a letter of interest, resume, and compensation requirements via email to Kathleen Halloran, Deputy Town Manager, at khalloran@vail.gov.
- Submissions must be received no later than 5:00 PM on January 31, 2025.
- Late submissions will not be accepted.
Interested parties are also reminded to submit all questions in writing via email by 5:00 PM on January 17, 2025, to the same address. Additional details are provided above.
Failure to comply with these instructions may result in disqualification.

Qualifications are as follows:
- Attorney licensed to practice law and in good standing in the State of Colorado
- Minimum five (5) years of experience, preferably with experience as a Municipal Judge
The Town of Vail Municipal Court is created pursuant to the Vail Home Rule Charter and hears alleged violations of the Town of Vail Municipal Code. The Municipal Judge presides over the Court. The Judge is appointed by Town Council for a term of two (2) years. Town Council may reappoint the Judge at their discretion.
The Town of Vail Municipal Court currently convenes twice per month for arraignments and hearings (first and third Thursdays of each month; with Juvenile and Animal control sessions the first and third Fridays). Trials are scheduled as necessary. The Judge is on-call to review motions and emergency matters.
Town Council expects the Municipal Judge to stay informed and work with the Municipal Court Community to ensure the Municipal Court complies with legislative changes.
Submit questions, in writing only, via email to khalloran@vail.gov no later than 5:00 PM, January 17, 2025. Responses to all questions shall be issued in writing to all who requested RLI documents, no later than 5:00 PM, January 24, 2025. Interested parties are cautioned not to contact other town staff or Town Council Members during this RLI process. Failure to comply may result in disqualification.
Letters of interest, resume, and compensation requirements must be emailed to Kathleen Halloran, Deputy Town Manager at khalloran@vail.gov no later than 5:00 PM on January 31, 2025. Late submittals will not be accepted.
Town Council may conduct interviews if a clear choice cannot be made. Should interviews be necessary they are tentatively scheduled to take place at the February 4, 2025 Town Council meeting. The effective start date for the Judge appointment will be March 1, 2025.
