General Statement of Job
The Town of Vienna is currently seeking exceptional and committed individuals to join our team. Our community is vibrant and lively, and we need outgoing and energetic candidates who can help execute over 100 special events throughout the year.
This position offers the opportunity to work on a variety of special events throughout the summer season, with the flexibility to choose the events that fit your schedule. Event Assistants will play a crucial role in ensuring the successful execution of events by providing support in various capacities, including set up, break down, customer service, and emergency response. Our special events include Movies in the Park, Summer Concerts, Summer Children's events, and various holiday events such as a Memorial Day weekend festival, Independence Day Celebration, Halloween Parade, Holiday Stroll, and others as assigned.
Work Hours : Approximately 3-15 Hours available per week June-August. Hours will vary throughout the year, with more hours available from June through August. There are event opportunities most months of the year, with the exception of January and February, Most shifts take place on nights and weekends. However, there are several weekday, daytime opportunities June-August.
All new employees must satisfactorily complete a background check. A conditional offer of employment may then be made contingent upon the successful completion of drug and alcohol test.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Set up and break down event spaces, including tents, tables, chairs, and signage.
- Serve as the manager on duty at smaller events, overseeing operations and ensuring a smooth experience for attendees.
- Make announcements and provide information to event participants as needed.
- Staff entrances and monitor guest traffic flow.
- Execute event emergency plans in coordination with event coordinators and emergency services.
- Staff information tables and provide assistance to attendees with inquiries about the event, facilities, and programs.
- Perform various other event-related duties as assigned, which may include assisting with parking, directing vendors, or facilitating activities.
- Occasionally assist the full-time Special Events Coordinator and Assistant Event Coordinator with administrative tasks.
