Job Summary
We are seeking dedicated and compassionate Bus Monitors to ensure the safety and well-being of students during their transportation to and from school. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children, particularly in a classroom or special education setting, and possess strong communication and conflict management skills. This role is crucial in maintaining a positive environment on the bus, supporting students in their daily routines, and addressing any behavioral issues that may arise. This is a school year position. There are full-time and part-time positions available (full-time positions are benefited, part-time are not).
Responsibilities
- Supervise students during bus rides to ensure their safety and adherence to behavior expectations.
- Assist students in boarding and alighting the bus safely.
- Communicate effectively with students to educate them on appropriate bus behavior and conflict resolution.
- Manage any conflicts or behavioral issues that may occur, employing effective behavior management techniques.
- Securing students safely in seat belts and safety vests.
- Collaborate with bus drivers and school staff to report any incidents or concerns regarding student behavior or safety.
- Foster a supportive environment for all students, particularly those with special needs or requiring additional assistance.
Requirements
- Previous experience working with children in a classroom, childcare, or special education setting is preferred.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with students, parents, and staff.
- Knowledge of behavior management strategies to address various student needs.
- Ability to educate students on appropriate conduct while promoting a positive atmosphere on the bus.
- First aid certification is a plus; willingness to obtain certification if not currently held.
- Attend inservice training.
- Experience in conflict management to resolve issues calmly and effectively.
- A genuine passion for working with children and fostering their growth in a safe environment.
This position plays an essential role in ensuring that our students have a safe and enjoyable transportation experience while promoting positive behaviors throughout their journey.

Pay: $19.00 per hour
