What are the responsibilities and job description for the Seasonal Deputy Habormaster/Shellfish Constable position at Town of Wareham?
The Town’s Human Resources Department, on behalf of the Department of Natural Resources, is accepting applications for the temporary, seasonal positions of Deputy Harbormaster/Shellfish Constable. These are non-benefited, temporary positions that will run from approximately May/June through September/October.
All applicants must be at least 18 years of age and possess the following:
Education/Requirements: High School Diploma or equivalent, current Massachusetts Drivers License, CPR and first responder certificate, completion of a USCG and Commonwealth of Massachusetts approved boating safety course. Possession of a Merchant Mariners License is preferred. Subject to CORI/SORI, pre-employment physical, drug testing and driver's license check.
Responsibilities: Seasonal Deputy Harbormaster responsibilities and requirements include but are not limited to, experience in boat operation, knowledge of local geography, ability to work nights, weekends and holidays, ability to operate a pump-out boat and facility, maintain and operate the seasonal office, light office work, upkeep of public docks, access areas and facilities and knowledge of boating and shellfish regulations. The job also requires moderate physical effort and the ability to lift up to 75lbs. Must be able to work in all weather conditions.
