GENERAL DEFINITION AND CONDITIONS OF WORK:
Performs intermediate technical and professional work enforcing zoning codes and ordinances, providing information to the public, preparing and maintaining reports, records, and files; does related work as required.
Zoning Official position duties include, but are not limited to:
HIGH LEVEL OVERVIEW OF SKILL NEEDED:
Performs intermediate administrative work coordinating the operation of the Town and County visitor center by providing information to visitors to the Town of Warrenton. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Director of Community Development.
Job Duties: Receive and process incoming calls and visitors; prepare and maintain manual and computerized records. Assists Director with on-going projects; prepares, processes and maintains a variety of documents including brochures and pamphlets; performs clerical work as needed; provides part-time front desk coverage as needed and on weekends as needed; provides information to citizens, visitors and employees; collects and prepares data for records and reports; assists with records management duties; assists with the preparation of a variety of reports; coordinates the ordering of brochures from regional and state vendors including Visitor Centers, accommodations, attractions, and events; maintains accurate inventory of local brochures and outside vendors; operates a variety of standard office, word and data processing equipment; performs related tasks as required.
Additional Tasks: Assists as needed to accomplish a variety of reporting requirements in support of the Director of Community Development.
Supervision: This position requires general supervision from the Director of Community Development.
Requirements
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of the Town of Warrenton and Fauquier County.
Ability to effectively communicate and interact with supervisors, members of the general public, employees, Town Officials and others involved in performance of job duties; ability to assemble reports in a concise, clear and effective manner.
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Ability to establish working relationships with associates, other departments, board and committee members, elected officials, and the general public.
Proficient in Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
Ability to use independent judgement and work with little direct supervision.
Ability to operate a computer, and other office equipment needed to perform job duties, proficiency in various software, including Microsoft Office suite; and excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment.
