Parks and Recreation -Weekend Park Attendant

GENERAL DESCRIPTION: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily; must follow safety guidelines provided by the town; and must be dependable. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/TYPICAL TASKS:

• Makes daily inspections of all facilities and equipment as requested (primary duty)

• Empties trash receptacles throughout the parks and downtown area as assigned (primary duty)

• Performs general duties for park grounds and facilities such as cleaning and maintenance of park restrooms and other facility related areas (primary duty)

• Keeps building and grounds attractive

• Performs trail maintenance (i.e., cleanup, debris removal and mulching)

• Performs minor carpentry repairs and changes light bulbs

• Maintains ball fields utilizing motorized equipment and hand tools

• Mowing, weed eating and power blowing off facilities

• Cleans mowing equipment after use

• Assist with Town events including but not limited to, movie nights, music nights, seasonal events, cultural arts festival, and any other planned events

• Other related duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stoop, stand, walk, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk or hear, use hands and fingers, handle or feel objects, tools or controls, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and move from 50 to more than 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally must work in inclement weather, near moving mechanical parts, and in high, precarious places, and is exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals, dust, fumes or airborne particles; outdoor weather conditions, extreme heat, extreme cold, vibration, and risk of electrical shock. Employee is exposed to loud noises.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age. Must have graduated or in pursuit of graduation from standard high school, vocational school, or have GED equivalency certificate; OR have any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Possession of valid North or South Carolina Driver’s License.

• Ability to work evenings/weekends. The hours for this role are:

o Friday afternoon/evening

o Saturday morning rounds then return for Saturday evening rounds

o Sunday morning rounds then return for Sunday evening rounds

*additional hours may be requested to assist with events

• Final applicant subject to pre-employment drug screening and background check.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $14.00 - $16.00 per hour

Expected hours: 15 – 20 per week

Schedule:

• Evening shift
• Every weekend
• Morning shift

Education:

• High school or equivalent (Preferred)

Experience:

• Maintenance: 1 year (Preferred)

License/Certification:

• Driver's License (Preferred)
