What are the responsibilities and job description for the Co-Response Clinician/Social Worker position at Town of Wayland?
The town of Wayland seeks motivated candidates to join the Wayland Police Department as a Co-Response Clinician/Social Worker. The Co-Response Clinician’ primary responsibilities include:
- Accompany first-responding officers and public safety employees to call out situations; Actively participate with first responders as Co-Response for mental health/substance use calls for assistance by members of the public.
- Provides coordination case management for mental health and substance use/opioid use disorders (SUD/OUD)
- Provides therapeutic services to Wayland residents, when appropriate. Therapeutic services include, but are not limited to individual, family and group therapy, case management, crisis intervention, treatment planning and assessment, Trauma-informed care, SUD/OUD assessment and referral.
- Provides behavioral health assessments to individuals and families in crisis.
- Serve as primary liaison to law enforcement and public safety employees on assigned shift.
- Provide initial crisis intervention services to individuals in need, along with crisis case management and short-term crisis counseling as follow-up from initial intervention, when appropriate.

Education: Master’s Degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, or a related field required
Experience: At least two (2) years of crisis experience with target population (inpatient, outpatient, residential acceptable). OUD and/or SUD experience preferred. Familiarity with elder services, trauma informed model of care preferred. Commitment to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion work required.
Licenses/Certificates: Massachusetts LICSW preferred, Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) eligible for application.
Must have valid driver's license and access to auto.
