TOW Adventure Day Kamp
As an extension of the Town of Webb, the mission of our youth recreation camp program is to provide opportunities to develop our youth in a structured and professional manner while promoting teamwork, safety and character development.
Responsibilities: This position is responsible for providing leadership, ensuring safety and direct supervision of children in all planned activities. You must meet some education, training and experience requirements and you must be able to demonstrate some critical knowledge, skills, and physical abilities.
Duties may be modified when deemed necessary.
Camper Development
Reinforce working as a team
Help campers develop skills in various activities
Encourage campers to do their best
Help campers develop character and build confidence
Ensure campers are aware of rules, daily schedule and routines
Encourage respect for person property, camp equipment and facilities
Support and assist Lead Counselor in the implementing of the daily activities that fit the children’s needs and interests
Follow proper procedures for sign-in/out of children on a daily basis
Establish a relationship with each child and know his or her present level of understanding; consider the needs of all the children and treat each child with respect and dignity
Work toward positive parent/staff relationship
Complete all paperwork clearly and concisely when necessary
Use appropriate language at all times
Be a role model and mentor
Communicate with campers and parents in a positive manner
Be committed to the entire length of camp dates.
Shows enthusiasm and sense of humor
Ability to teach, lead and participate in various recreational activities
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Passion. desire and ability to work with children ages 4 to 10
Understands emergency procedures and assists in fire drills
Provide and maintain a safe, fair, clean and fun environment Have camper medical information forms on-hand at all times Have first aid kit in immediate area at all sessions
Qualifications:
Excellent communication, leadership and interpersonal skills Must be able to walk, bend, run, twist, hike. Must be organized.
First Aid/CPR Certification required yearly (class is assigned by Director of Recreation)
Must be at least 16 years of age.
May be required to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. in various forms Must exhibit patience and understanding
Receives and follows detailed instructions
Available the hours from 9:00 am-1:00 pm during the duration of camp (unless longer trips are scheduled)
Must pass criminal background check
Demonstrated experience working with children
Letter of recommendation and three references are required
Actively participate in all aspects of the camper’s day
The desire and ability to work in a cooperative, team-oriented atmosphere
