What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Camp Assistant Director position at Town of Wellesley?
The Town of Wellesley Recreation Department is seeking a Summer Camp Assistant Director.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES :
The Assistant Camp Director supports the Camp Director in overseeing daily camp operations, ensuring a structured, engaging, and safe environment for all participants.
Assists in supervising and evaluating camp staff, ensuring adherence to policies and procedures.
Helps plan and administer camp programming, activities, and special events.
Supports the implementation of staff orientation and conducts regular meetings to provide ongoing training and support.
Assists with the use and maintenance of camp equipment and grounds.
Aids in managing and documenting disciplinary actions among campers and staff.
Serves as a point of contact for counselors, campers, and parents, fostering clear and effective communication.
Ensures all health and safety protocols are followed in coordination with the Camp Director.
Acts as a professional role model, reinforcing the mission and values of the Wellesley Recreation Department.
Performs additional duties as assigned by the Camp Director or Program Administrator.
QUALIFICATIONS :
Strong leadership and organizational skills.
Ability to problem-solve and make quick decisions in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Must be certified or willing to become certified in First Aid and CPR.
Minimum of 18 years of age and pursuing or possessing a degree in recreation, physical education, or a related field.
Previous experience in a camp or youth program setting preferred.
OTHER INFO :
Starting Rate : $20 / hour, commensurate with experience.
Season : June 1 - August 16, 2025
40 hours per week.
