Seasonal Position
The Westerly Police Department is accepting applications for the seasonal position of Pump-Out Boat Operator. Under the general direction of the Police department, this position is responsible for carrying out the marine sewage pump-out services within the local waters of Westerly, Little Narragansett Bay and Stonington Harbor. This position is seasonal and will operate from May through October.
Position Overview:
· Perform mobile boat sewage pump out services to vessels.
· Maintenance of the vessels and equipment.
· Maintain records of boats serviced.
· Assist boaters in certain emergency situations.
· Effective communication with boat operators in person and through radio communications.
· Communicating with the public in a positive manner.
· Other duties and projects as assigned.
Qualifications & Experience:
· Must be 18 years of age.
· Any equivalent combination of experience and education that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Licenses and Certifications:
· A valid driver’s license.
· Boat operator/safety certificate preferred, or willingness to obtain one within 30 days employed with the Town.
· First Aid/ACPR/AED certified. If not, Town will provide training.
Salary is $16.00 / hour (operator/assistant) and $18.00 / hour (supervisor) based on experience.
