Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Camp Director to lead our summer camp program. The Sports Director plans, designs, develops, and implements a summer camp sports program for children in grades K–4. This role includes managing all sports-related activities, supervising staff, and overseeing equipment operations. Ensuring a safe, enjoyable environment for both employees and participants is a primary responsibility.
Duties
- Program Management: Plans and delivers daily story time sessions, incorporating age appropriate books, storytelling techniques, and creative activities.
- Activity Design: Develops related activities such as crafts, games, or discussions that connect to the stories being shared.
- Inventory and Resources: Manages story time materials, including books, props, and supplies, conducting regular inventories and recommending purchases.
- Participant Engagement: Encourages participation, creativity, and respect during story time.
- Safety and Behavior Management: Maintains a safe, inclusive, and positive environment for all participants.
- Team Collaboration: Communicates regularly with counselors and other camp staff to ensure the success of story time sessions.
- Other Duties: Performs related tasks as required.
Experience
- Preferred: Bachelor’s degree or coursework in education, library science, English, or a related field.
- Experience: Previous experience working with children in educational or recreational settings. Storytelling, reading, or library experience is a plus.
- Alternative Qualifications: A combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of this position.
