The Town of Westwood seeks an energetic and responsible individual for the seasonal position of Counselor-In-Training (CIT) Supervisor for the Westwood Recreation Department Summer Camp. This position is responsible for supervision and implementation of the CIT and Intern Programs. The CIT Supervisor will assist the Camp Director with administration and operation of the summer camp program when not engaging with CITs. They are responsible for the training and supervision of the future Camp Counselors of Westwood.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following :
- Oversee and implement daily operations of the CIT Program including training, evaluating and providing feedback on the skills required to be a Counselor.
- Oversee the Intern volunteer-counselor program which is the step between CITs and paid Counselors.
- Provide interview and job readiness experience for the incoming CITs and Interns.
- Establish positive rapport and on-going communication with CITs, Interns, staff, campers and parents / guardians.
- Work with Camp Counselors to evaluate a CIT's abilities and give them prompt feedback.
- Provide social opportunities for CITs during the Camp Day.
- Help with general camp responsibilities when schedule allows.
- Transport CITs between Camp sites in Town; Vehicle may be necessary.
Qualifications and Experience : Must be at least 21 years of age. Camp experience required. Experience working with teens preferred. Must attend all required staff training sessions. Ability to work with children of varying ages, backgrounds, and abilities. Excellent communication and leadership skills necessary.
Schedule Requirements : Lead CIT Interviews in April. Mandatory staff trainings June 10-12, 2025, from 4 : 00-8 : 00PM. Work commitment Monday-Friday, June 23 - August 8, 2025 (No July 4th).
Salary and Benefits : This is a seasonal, non-benefit position with a starting hourly rate of $18.00-$22.00 commensurate with experience. Eligible for a $500 perfect attendance bonus. Employee discount of 100% on in-house programs, e.g., camp for full-time staff and their immediate family.
