Town of Wilbraham – Library Director

The Town of Wilbraham (population 14,500) is looking for a new Library Director. The incumbent Director is retiring at the end of August 2025. Responsibilities include all aspects of managing the operation of the Wilbraham Public Library under the direction and leadership of the Board of Library Trustees and reporting directly to the Town Administrator. The Director partners with the Library Trustees, the Friends of the Library, town government, community groups, and local businesses to provide a community and patron-centered, technologically-innovative library with appropriate staffing and facilities to support present and future library services for the Town of Wilbraham. Implements the policies of the library as established by the Trustees. Areas of responsibilities include developing long and short-range plans, collection development, assessing community needs, development of programming, direct supervision of staff and contractors, enforcing policy and contract provisions, and ensuring compliance with laws and regulations governing library operations. Develops and administers the department budget and purchasing of materials.

This exempt position offers a competitive salary range, DOQ. The full pay range is $81,832 to $107,410 for a standard 35 hour work-week. Hours are flexible and work outside of standard business hours including weekends and evenings is required. The anticipated hiring range is $81,832 to $94,931. Your minimum qualifications for consideration are a Master’s Degree in Library Science or Library Information Services, with experience in library work in a Public Library setting, including collection development, programming, integrated Library Systems software, and reference and readers’ advisory services, plus 5-10 years of experience in progressively responsible supervisory positions, preferably in a Massachusetts library. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience is acceptable. Experience with personnel management, budgeting and facilities management is required. Massachusetts Professional Certification of Librarianship required.

COMPENSATION: Grade 12, $81,832 -107,410 DOQ
