A part-time Caseworker position in the Towns department of Social Services is available. This position reports to the Social Services Coordinator.
Your typical work activities will include:
- Leads efforts in providing energy assistance to Windsor families, while working closely with the Windsor Food and Fuel Bank, Eversource, Operational Fuel, Community Renewal Team, CNG, and other utility providers to understand best practices and application requirements
- Process utility assistance applications
- Assists clients with financial, medical and housing applications
- Schedules and manages caseload within established guidelines
- Provides direct services, including; comprehensive intakes, assessments, case management, and crisis and advocacy services
- Provides information and referrals to community, municipal, state, and federal agencies and programs, school staff, and private practitioners; coordinates and consults with other social service practitioners regarding client needs
- Performs a variety of miscellaneous duties such as receiving the public, answering the phone, typing correspondence, maintaining records, running errands, and picking up supplies as needed
Additional Responsibilities:
- Serves on various employee committees; participates in meetings, seminars, and training sessions
- Assists with the coordination and operation of the Windsor Food and Fuel Bank
- Plans, facilitates and coordinates support and educational groups as needed
- Provides consultation services to groups; teaches workshops; and presents to community-based organizations
- Performs related work as required
Requirements include:
- Bachelors degree in social work, counseling or a related field, with two years of experience in public social work Masters Degree in Social Work preferred or
- Any equivalent combination of education and experience
- Successful completion of the Town of Windsors pre-employment background check and drug screen (includes screening for marijuana)
Schedule and Compensation:
- Schedule: 29 hours weekly - Mondays 8 am to 1 pm, Tuesdays 11 am to 5 pm, Wednesdays 8 am to 5pm, Thursdays 8 am to 1 pm, Fridays 8 am to 1 pm
- Rate of Pay: $22 to $25 hourly depending upon qualifications and experience
