The Town of Windsor, CT seeks an enthusiastic and friendly person to provide customer service and logistical support to private groups renting facilities at Northwest Park. Our mission is to foster an understanding and appreciation of nature and build community through educational and passive recreational experiences on 473 acres of natural habitats. The Facility Attendant serves as the park’s frontline staff to assist renters and attendees during evening and weekend events.
This is a paid part time position that reports to the Park Manager. Work schedule is flexible, depending on the calendar of reservations, with a maximum of 19 hours per week. Most events will occur during weekends (between 8:30 am – sunset) and evenings (ending at sunset). Schedule varies seasonally, primarily May – October. This position supports winter ski concessions when snow conditions permit. The hourly rate is $17.00 per hour.
Responsibilities:
- Be a friendly representative of the park to all visitors
- Provide assistance with loading supplies in & out and transporting guests with limited mobility
- Clearly communicate park rules to rental groups and other visitors; enforce compliance where necessary
- Ensure picnic shelters are properly set up; remove bagged trash to dumpster
- Clean restrooms as needed
- Complete simple maintenance tasks as assigned
- Ensure security of park facilities and protection of natural areas at all times
- Be a creative problem solver to ensure a positive experience for all renters
Qualifications:
- Enjoy interacting with the public
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Ability to operate golf cart or other lightweight vehicles
- Ability to lift 40 pounds
- Ability and willingness to work outside in all kinds of weather
- Have excellent judgment and communication skills
- Successful completion of the Town's pre-employment drug screen (including screening for marijuana) and criminal background check
