Part-Time Lead Senior Transportation Driver

The Town of Windsor seeks a Part-Time Lead Senior Transportation Driver to transport senior citizens and people w/disabilities in a wheelchair equipped mini-bus to and from various destinations. The schedule for this position is 19 hours/week, Monday Friday with the ability to work up to 30 hours per week when needed (generally 3 times per year). The hourly rate for this position is $20.00/hr.
The position:
- Drives vehicle to transport elderly and disabled clients for various programs such as medical appointments, Senior Center programs, shopping, special events, etc.
- In the absence of the Transportation Coordinator, provide supervision of assigned drivers, monitor daily operations and scheduling
- Assists senior and disabled adults on and off the bus, to and from their home and with packages, as needed.
- Reports all incidents, including delays and accidents, to the Transportation Coordinator. Maintains bus including fueling, cleaning and general maintenance.
Our Ideal Candidate will have:
- Knowledge of safe driving practices and methods
- Effective communication skills both orally and in writing
- Experience with telephones, computer, and route scheduling program.
Minimum Qualifications:
- A valid CT Public Service License or CDL required.
Successful candidates will be subject to the Town of Windsor background screening process, which includes a criminal background check and a pre-employment drug screen.
