Summary Job Description: Working under the direction of the Director of Senior Services, the Mini-Bus Driver is responsible for providing transportation for Woodbury senior citizens and disabled residents on the Senior Bus.
Mandatory Requirements for all Town Employees: A) You are required to understand and abide by all safety work practices for yourself and your co-workers. B) You are required to understand and use customer service “best practices” when dealing with the public, peers and co-workers by treating everyone fairly, with understanding, empathy, and professionalism.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Mini-Bus Driver is to perform the following duties and responsibilities including but not limited to the following:
1. Provides transportation to Woodbury senior citizens as scheduled. Must be available to substitute for regularly scheduled driver(s) as needed for emergency and scheduled time off situations.
2. Must report to the Senior Center before each day’s run to obtain the ride schedule and be given any special instructions or updates.
3. Establishes ride schedule in cooperation with the office manager.
4. Delivers and picks up Senior Center outgoing and incoming mail at the post office and town office building.
5. Maintains contact with the Senior Center at all times via cell phone or in person.
6. Prepares daily trip records and reports, as required by the State of Connecticut.
7. Collects donations and submits same to the Director of Senior Services daily.
8. Provides registration and regulation materials to all new clients, returning registration to the office staff.
9. Coordinates weekly maintenance check of mini-bus with the Public Works Department.
10. Assists the Public Works Department as necessary in maintaining the vehicle.
11. Responsible for the interior/exterior cleanliness of the vehicle.
Supervisory Responsibilities: None required.
Specific Knowledge and Skills Required:
The driver must possess a valid Connecticut Driver’s license with Public Passenger Endorsement F; CDL not required but is accepted. Must maintain a clean driving record and obtain a medical statement verifying the applicant’s physical capacity to perform the job. Experience in driving public carrier vehicles preferred. Must hold or be willing to obtain CPR certification. Must enjoy working with and catering to the senior population.
Pay and Schedule Information:
This is a part-time, non union position. Pay rate is $18.78 per hour.
- Flexibility to work as needed/on call hours between 8am - 4pm M-F.
- Occasional need for special events or substitute coverage of other drivers.

- Must pass background check.
