Under the supervision of the CIO. Performs difficult and highly technical work supporting a variety of Town technology issues, as well as working with the Police and Fire Departments to support their specialized software and hardware needs. Responds to requests for assistance, troubleshooting problems, provide training and/or orientation to users, purchases and set up new hardware and software as necessary. Provides a variety of Tier 1 and Tier 2 support. Occasional weekend and evening work required.Duties and Tasks
- Provides first response technical support for hardware, software and end users issues. Including computers, printers, scanners, access points, Microsoft products, and smartphones.
- Troubleshoots all IT problems that the end user has.
- Maintains computer equipment at multiple locations.
- Provides support to department specific software applications including law enforcement and fire.
- Develops technical specifications, orders, unpacks and sets up, configures, and tests all computers and peripheral equipment.
- Maintains the backup system by installing the necessary software and sets up the schedule for backing up servers and individual computers.
- Maintains a database inventory of all equipment and software.
- Maintains a database/inventory on the setup of all computers.
- Documents all work performed.
- Researches and stays current on software and hardware systems.
- Performs other duties as required
- Must be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of climbing, kneeling, walking, standing, fingering, grasping, talking (expressing or exchanging ideas by means of spoken words), hearing (perceiving nature of sounds by ear), and perform repetitive motions.
- Must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 200 pounds of force frequently to move objects.
- Requires visual acuity to prepare and analyze figures, operate a computer terminal, perform mechanical tasks in the computer environment, do extensive reading and do visual inspections of computer parts and automated data
- Associate degree in Computer Science or an IT related field from an accredited institution or High school diploma or equivalent and two years of experience in the field of technology related to position’s role preferred. Will accept the equivalent of education and experience.
- Possess a valid NC NC driver’s license
- Considerable knowledge of troubleshooting, analyzing, diagnosing and solving computer problems in a variety of applications as it relates to software, hardware and peripherals such as printers, scanners, access points, faxes and cellphones.
- Considerable knowledge of various operating systems, common software and hardware used in Town departments.

Salary : $61,976 - $94,768
