Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Fire Alarm Installer to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong mechanical knowledge and hands-on experience in fire safety systems. As a Fire Alarm Installer, you will be responsible for ensuring the installation, maintenance, and repair of fire alarm systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Installation & Setup
- Install and mount fire alarm control panels, detectors, strobes, horns, and other devices as specified in project blueprints and plans.
- Run and connect electrical wiring, conduit, and cables to integrate fire alarm devices properly.
- Comply with local electrical and building codes, as well as company and project guidelines.
- Testing & Commissioning
- Conduct initial testing of installed fire alarm systems to ensure functionality, sensitivity, and compliance.
- Troubleshoot and identify faults or malfunctions, performing necessary repairs or adjustments.
- Work with the project team and inspectors to address any issues discovered during inspections and tests.
- Safety & Compliance
- Follow all OSHA and site-specific safety rules and regulations to maintain a safe working environment.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area to prevent accidents and ensure easy access to tools and equipment.
- Keep accurate and up-to-date records of all installations, inspections, and maintenance activities.
- Collaboration & Communication
- Coordinate with construction managers, contractors, electricians, and other skilled trades to ensure timely installation and integration.
- Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders about project progress, schedule, and any potential issues.
- Support the training of end-users or site personnel on the proper operation of fire alarm systems when required.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in electrical systems or electronics is a plus.
- Proven experience (3 years) in fire alarm installation, programming, or similar electrical work.
- Technical Skills:
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and related construction documents.
- Proficient in pulling wire, installing devices, and programming control panels for fire alarm systems.
- Familiarity with relevant fire and electrical codes (e.g., NFPA, NEC).
- Certifications (Preferred):
- NICET Fire Alarm Certification
- OSHA 10/30, or equivalent safety training
- Soft Skills:
- Excellent verbal and written communication, with the ability to effectively interact with general contractors and team members.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills, capable of running on-site jobs independently.
- Problem-solving mindset with the ability to handle unforeseen challenges quickly and efficiently.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $28.00 - $35.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
