Job Summary:
We are looking for a skilled Systems Engineer to support and optimize our IT infrastructure, ensuring secure, efficient, and reliable operations for our mortgage technology systems. This role will be responsible for designing, maintaining, and improving systems that support loan origination, servicing, and compliance processes. The ideal candidate has experience in system administration, network management, and cloud-based solutions, along with a strong understanding of security protocols and regulatory requirements in the mortgage industry.
This position is remote-friendly; however, we prefer candidates local to Michigan. *Weekend work might be necessary depending on project(s)
Key Responsibilities:
- Infrastructure Management: Design, implement, and maintain IT systems, including servers, networks, databases, and cloud platforms, to support mortgage processing and servicing.
- System Security & Compliance: Ensure data security and compliance with industry regulations (e.g., CFPB, FNMA, FHLMC) by implementing best practices, access controls, and encryption.
- Performance Optimization: Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize technology solutions to improve operational efficiency and reduce downtime.
- Automation & Integration: Develop automated workflows and integrations between mortgage-related software (e.g., LOS, servicing platforms, CRM) to streamline operations.
- Disaster Recovery & Backup: Implement and maintain backup solutions and disaster recovery plans to protect business-critical mortgage data.
- Technical Support & Troubleshooting: Provide Level 2 and 3 support for system-related issues, working closely with IT support and mortgage operations teams.
- Collaboration & Vendor Management: Work with third-party vendors, IT security teams, and internal stakeholders to ensure smooth system functionality and compliance.
- Documentation & Training: Maintain clear documentation of system configurations, processes, and best practices while providing training to internal users as needed.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3 years of experience in systems engineering, IT infrastructure, or network administration, preferably in financial services or mortgage lending.
- Proficiency in Windows Server, Linux, cloud platforms (Azure, AWS), and virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V).
- Experience with enterprise-level security tools, data encryption, and compliance frameworks (SOC 2, ISO 27001).
- Familiarity with mortgage industry software (e.g., Encompass, Black Knight, MeridianLink, or similar).
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills with a proactive approach to system optimization.
- Ability to work collaboratively across teams and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, AWS Solutions Architect, or CompTIA Security
- Knowledge of scripting languages (PowerShell, Python) for automation
- Experience with cloud migrations and hybrid cloud environments
- Understanding of mortgage industry cybersecurity risks and mitigation strategies
