A Night Auditor/Guest Service Agent is responsible for ensuring that each guest is greeted with a smile, positive attitude and outstanding guest service. In the Night Audit position, they will also be responsible for the balancing of the days business, through verification of correct payments, charges, corrections and all postings. They are an asset to the team’s goal of ensuring outstanding guest service and financial profitability.
The responsibilities and expectations of the Night Audit Position:
- The overall operation of the front desk while delivering a welcoming and problem-free stay
- Demonstrate a high level of customer service at all times
- Ensure a pleasant and accurate experience for Guests, from booking reservations, both check-in/out, and all necessary processing of charges and payments
- Demonstrate a knowledge of hotel room categories, room rates, packages, promotions, and other general product knowledge necessary to perform daily duties
- Maximize room occupancy and use up-selling techniques to promote hotel services and facilities
- Ensure that Management and other shifts are kept fully aware of any relevant feedback from guests and, or, other departments
- Audit and balance reports from the day shifts
- Run End of Day computer functions so they are complete by the end of the shift
- Post charges to the guest accounts that have not been posted or were incurred on the night audit shift.
- Balance cash drawers and record receipts
- Transfer charges and deposits to master accounts.
- Checks to see that all charges are assigned to the appropriate departments.
- To verify that all transactions performed at the front desk are supported by documentary evidence as necessary and that they have been correctly posted and allocated into PMS system.
- Tracks room revenues, occupancy percentages, and other front office statistics.
- Prepares a summary of cash, check, and credit card activities.
- Summarizes results of operations for management.
- Attend appropriate training courses and meetings, when required
- Comply with hotel security, fire regulations and all health and safety legislation
- Act in accordance with policies and procedures when working with front of house equipment and property management systems
- Follow company brand standards
- Assist other departments, as necessary
Qualifications include:
- Ability to work the overnight shift consistently.
- Strong mathematical/accounting skills.
- The ability to stand for an 8-hour shift.
- Previous experience in a customer-focused industry
- Positive attitude and good communication skills
- Commitment to delivering a high level of customer service
- Excellent grooming standards
- Calm, efficient, and organized with great attention to detail
- Ability to multi-task while maintaining a positive attitude when working with a Guest
- Professional manner with an emphasis on hospitality and guest service
- Ability to work on your own and as part of a team
