What are the responsibilities and job description for the Machine Operator- 2nd Shift position at Townley Engineering and Manufacturing?
Founded in 1963, Townley Engineering & Manufacturing is rapidly growing! We have an opportunity for a full-time 2nd Shift Machining position (4:15pm-11:45pm). We are an American-made solutions expert for wear and abrasion problems found in the mining, dredging, and power industries.
This position is part of our Foundry and we are looking for individuals who are motivated, not afraid to get dirty and want to work with their hands. If this is you, please keep reading.
The Machining role works with CNC Machines for large, and I mean large, parts. This is not your typical CNC role and we are willing to train the right person who is interested in starting their career with Townley.
Responsibilities include:
- Machine parts to specifications using CNC equipment such as lathes and milling machines
- Read, interpret and understand blueprints and drawings
- Set up and operate machine parts/components to the required specifications
- Properly utilize machining tools
- Select appropriate speeds, feeds and tooling for operations
- Measure and visually inspect completed components in process to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications using precision instruments based on drawing or work instruction requirements
- Maintain safe operations by adhering to company safety procedures and policies
Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted
- Ability to read tape measure, micrometers, calipers, and gauges
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time on concrete
- Ability to tolerate excess heat and humidity
- Ability to work as a team as well as being self-directed
- Safe operation of all tools
