What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mfg Tech- Set-up & Pour position at Townley Engineering & Manufacturing Co?
Founded in 1963, Townley Engineering & Manufacturing is a rapidly growing, American-made solutions expert for wear and abrasion problems found in the mining, dredging, and power industries. We are looking for motivated individuals, not afraid to get dirty, for our state-of-the-art white iron foundry. This role performs a combination of duties including melting metal and pouring it into molds.
Essential Job Functions:
- Skim slag from surface of molten metal
- Remove gates, sprues and other projections from castings
- Measure out correct amounts of materials for furnace and loads charge
- Monitor the pouring of molten metal into molds and other forms to create castings with the help of ladles and hand-operated equipment.
- Carefully track the temperature gauges and color, heating units, furnace flames, etc. to melt metal as per requirements.
- Clean castings and patterns
- Follow oral and written instructions and/or direction given by supervisors to complete assigned work projects
- Ensure work area is clean and safe

Physical Demands:
Must be able to lift 50 pounds unassisted. Physical capability to properly handle tooling and safely set up large pieces; including lifting, pushing, pulling, and positioning products. Must be able to stand, sit and bend for long periods of time.
Work Environment:
Manufacturing environment: loud noise levels, high temperatures, dirt and sand,
Required PPE: steel-toed shoes, safety glasses, dust masks, and/or respirators.
