Townsen Memorial Hospital is looking for a Nurse Manager to join our team in our NEW Bellaire, TX location!
The Nurse Manager is responsible for overseeing the professional nursing care for the patient during the pre- and postoperative course. The Nurse Manager helps maintain the day-to-day operations and ensure processes are being monitored and actioned as needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Manager:
- Responsible for day-to-day operations of surgical services
- Monitor and reinforces policies, procedures, and ethical conduct
- Provide oversight and training to all staff reporting to surgical services manager
- Resolve issues in a real-time environment, including customer service issues and patient complaints
- Oversee staff regarding work assignments, clinical priorities, and performance issues of clinical staff
- Monitor budget and assist accountants with invoice verification for payments
- Develop and implement office policies and procedures
- Ordering medical and office supplies
- Understanding the financial background of the office
- Review and approves employee timesheets
- Help to build a culture of respect, accountability, and trust
- Ensure compliance with current healthcare regulations, medical laws, and high ethical standards
- Perform other related duties as assigned to support the hospital
Clinical:
- Ensure supplies and equipment needed are available and in good working order
- Monitor the patient’s medical condition and reports any significant changes to the admitting physician or
- Assure surgical consent, pre-operative test results and History and Physical are in the medical record prior to proposed procedure
- Report any important health history facts to the operating room nurse/medical director
- Document patient care delivered accurately in the medical record
- Implement doctor’s orders in a timely and accurate manner
- Educate patients and family
- Give patients and family members emotional support, as necessary
- Explain nursing procedures and actions taken to help reduce anxiety
- Develop and maintains an effective working relationship with patients, families, visitors, and other facility employees
- Document concisely, precisely, and accurately on all records or documents as indicated by policy
- Make decisions using evidence based analytical approach
- Plan for routine events and anticipates/prevents and manages/evaluates emergent situations
- Complete patient care responsibilities in a timely manner with accurate documentation
- Use downtime efficiently, aware of team members workload, offers assistance and responds positively to requests
- Effectively acclimate to various work schedules to achieve high quality of care
- Protect patient and family privacy rights and maintains confidentiality of patient records in accordance with policy and procedure and HIPAA requirements
- Follow all safety rules on the job, report all accidents promptly and corrects minor safety hazards. Communicates with peers and management regarding any hazards identified in the workplace
- Maintain established Facility/Departmental policies and procedures
- Adhere to the company standards of business conduct
- Perform other related duties as assigned to support the hospital

- Understand and maintain clinical competencies (general, age specific and drug administration)

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing
- Current and unencumbered RN license in the State of Texas
- Five (5) years of perioperative nursing experience
- One (1) year of nursing leadership experience
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certified
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certified or must be obtained within thirty (30) days of hire
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certified or must be obtained within thirty (30) days of hire
