Townsen Memorial Imaging is looking for a MRI Technologist to join our Med Center location!
The MRI Technologist is responsible for performing magnetic resonance imaging studies using a magnetic resonance device that includes preparing patients, positioning, setting imaging parameters, performing computer processing, and displaying images. Selects appropriate imaging protocol for patient studies. Performs quality assurance scans as required. Demonstrates the ability to work cohesively as a team member within the MRI Department.

Selects appropriate imaging protocol for patient studies. Performs quality assurance scans as required. Demonstrates the ability to work cohesively as a team member within the MRI Department.
Essential Functions
- Set up and operate MRI scanners used in the medical diagnosis and/or treatment of patients
- Ensure the procedure produces quality images and information for the health care professional to make an accurate diagnosis
- Positions patient and set up and adjust equipment to obtain the best quality MRI image of the specific body area requested by the physician
- Takes preventative steps to ensure safety of patients and fellow staff
- Takes extra care to screen all patients to make sure patients do NOT have any metal in or on the patient’s body
- Address patient concerns during the procedure, and explain the MRI process to the patient in a way that is informative but also reassuring
- Positions and restrains patients; and takes MRI of patients’ chest, limbs, or other body parts as requested by the physicians
- Implements infection control procedures for the work area
- Checks MRI for clarity of image, and retakes MRI when needed
- Distributes films to appropriate medical staff and transfer images to electronic medical records (EMR)
- Maintains quantity and quality control checks to assure MRI unit meets standards required by laws, rules, and facility policy
- Performs MRI procedures for patients in surgery or at outpatient imaging departments
- Cleans, maintains, and makes minor adjustments to MRI equipment, including determining repairs needed to equipment
- Troubleshoot peripheral equipment and scanners to ensure that equipment is operating properly to avoid downtime or delays that affect patient satisfaction
- Protects patient and other personnel from any metal exposure
- Maintains radiographic supplies, film, and equipment
- Assures that all materials and other required equipment, are present and in working order
- Follows all safety rules on the job. Reports all accidents promptly and corrects minor safety hazards.
- Protects patient and family privacy rights and maintains confidentiality of patient records in accordance to policy and procedure and HIPAA requirements
- Adheres to the company standards of business conduct
- Performs other duties as assigned as per discretion of medical provider and facility
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of diagnostic radiographic procedures
- Knowledge of basic chemistry, film apparatus, and film processing techniques
- Knowledge of how disease and injuries are diagnosed and imaged radiographically
- Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions applicable to the work
- Knowledge of human anatomy
- Knowledge of computer and relevant software applications
- Strong attention to detail: being careful about detail and thorough in completing work tasks
- Ability to work independently by guiding oneself with little or no supervision, and depending one oneself to get things done
- Ability to maintain effective and organized systems to ensure timely patient flow
- Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology or Associates Degree in Radiology Studies
- Licensed by the Medical State Board of Texas as a Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT)
- Registered MRI Technologist by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT-MR); or
- Registered Radiological Technologist by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT-R),
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
