    Location: Deerfield High School
    Salary: Salary in line with the successful applicant's education and experience, with a range of $90,000 to $130,000

    Summary:

    The Assistant Athletic Director is responsible for assisting the Athletic Director with the delivery of the overall student athletic program. Additionally, this role is responsible for scheduling of contests, practices, officials and transportation, event supervision, staff development, equipment inventory, facility and contest management, picture days, and web/media relations.

    Qualifications:
    • Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL)., required
    • Administrative/Principal Licensure (formerly Type 75), preferred
    • 3 years of experience coaching high school students is strongly desired.
    • 3 years of experience teaching high school students is strongly desired.
    • Certified in First Aid and AED or ability to obtain certification within 3 months.
    • Experience in event supervision and/or leadership
    • Excellent human relations and organizational skills.
    • Work collaboratively as a team member within the Athletic Department.
    • Work in conjunction with member CSL schools on league initiatives.
    • Proficient in all technology platforms used in role.
    Essential Functions:

    The criteria indicated below are intended to describe various types of work that may be performed. The exclusion of specific responsibilities does not prohibit them if the work is similar, related, or a logical task of the position.
    • Schedule all athletic competitions with the master athletic schedule.
    • Assist the Athletic Director with the coordination/maintaining the master calendar of program scheduling of athletic fields, tennis courts, and swimming pool; along with program use of school facilities.
    • Attend and help supervise after-school and evening athletic events/contests/practices.
    • Assist the Athletic Director with developing and managing the budget.
    • Assist the Athletic Director with the evaluation of athletic programs and personnel.
    • Assist the Athletic Director with administering programs within the established philosophies and budgetary guidelines of the District.
    • Assist the Athletic Director by maintaining inventory records and general upkeep of equipment connected to the Athletic Department.
    • Assist the Athletic Director by maintaining current and accurate records pertinent to athletic programs including personnel, program participation, and financial status.
    • Submit reports to the Athletic Director, compile bid specifications, special reports, and recommendations as requested.
    • Attend conferences, workshops, seminars, classes, as they pertain to the area of responsibility with the approval of the Athletic Director.
    • Assist the Athletic Director by working with the Athletics Administrative Assistant in the registration of program participants; assisting in general office responsibilities when necessary.
    • Assist the Athletic Director with the preparation of program publicity releases, school flyers, league standings, video streaming announcements,website, and other promotional materials.
    • Responsible for being aware of and contributing to the maintenance and implementation of all District 113’s safety policies and procedures.
    • Assist the Athletic Director in all sports pre and post-season presentations for coaches, athletes, and parents.
    • Assist the Athletic Director in the development and implementation of a professional development plan for coaches including training on nutrition, liability, hazing, strength training, sexual harassment, etc.
    • Assist in training and providing staff development.
    • Assist the Athletic Director in ordering athletic equipment.
    • Assist the Athletic Director in the notification for Maintenance personnel with facility deficiencies.
    Language Skills

    Communicates clearly both in oral and written format with all constituents of the District 113 community. Effectively present information and respond to questions from constituency groups. Apply knowledge of current research and theory in a specific field. Establish and maintain effective and collaborative working relationships with students, staff and the school community. Perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
    Organizational and Technical Skills
    Operates as highly organized by maintaining master controls for changes to schedules, programming and facilities along with other items as they come up. On occasion, calculate figures, estimates, proportions, percentages, and cost projections. Apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Strong technology skills, including standard Microsoft Office suite / Google Workspace, Arbiter, RSchool, GoFan, NFHS, Hudl and data analysis.

    Reasoning Ability

    Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Interpret an extensive variety of verbal and written instructions and deal with multiple abstract and concrete variables.
    Contacts Outside Your Own Department:
    Build positive relationships with constituents of the District 113 community that includes, teachers, school staff, administrative team, Board of Education, coaches, volunteers, athletes, students, officials, and fans at athletic events.
    Physical and Mental Demands:
    • Specific psychological demands of this job include the ability to remain calm under stress levels associated with job demands, along with constant contact with students, colleagues and the public.
    • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, bend, twist, write, type, speak, listen, and taste or smell.
    • The employee is regularly required to communicate with staff and others.
    • The employee is frequently required to use hands and/or fingers, handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls.
    • The employee may occasionally be required to climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, twist, reach or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
    • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision,depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
    Working Conditions:
    • In the work environment, this role is regularly exposed to office environmental conditions.
    • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate with regular exposure to loud classrooms, hallways, cafeterias or sports venues.
    • The employee is regularly required to meet deadlines with severe time constraints and interact with the public and staff in addition to meeting multiple demands from several people.
    • The employee is frequently required to work irregular or extended work hours, which may include evenings or weekends.
    Safety:

    As a part of the District workforce, this role is responsible for being aware of, modeling and contributing to the maintenance and implementation of all District safety policies and procedures. The role is directly responsible for the safety, well-being, and work output of students.
