What are the responsibilities and job description for the Deputy Registrar of Vital Statistics position at Township of Raritan?
The Deputy Registrar provides operational support for the day-to-day activities and general duties of the Registrar of Vital Statistics and the Township Clerk. The Clerks office is a hub for the community and the work requires extensive interaction with the public and includes assisting with the processing of marriage licenses, birth certificates and death certificates, as well as issuing pet licenses.
Work to be performed:
- Greeting and assisting the public at the service counter
- Assisting the Registrar of Vital Statistics
- Assisting the Clerk and Deputy Clerk
- Scheduling appointments for issuing marriage licenses
- Processing of marriage licenses, birth certificates and death certificates
- Issuing pet licenses
- Assisting at annual rabies clinics
- Answering phones and directing calls
- General filing
- Photocopying and scanning of documents
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Must have excellent interpersonal skills and written and verbal communication skills
- Must be able to multi-task
- Must be computer literate; Microsoft Office experience required
- Familiarity/experience with municipal government a plus
Minimum Qualifications:
- Two years in an administrative support position
- High school degree or equivalent
- The ability to read, write, speak or otherwise communicate in English sufficiently to perform the duties of the position.
