Salary : POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for the daily care and direction of a group of preschool or school-age campers. Will plan, organize, and implement age-appropriate activities indoors and outdoors with the partnership of a co-counselor.
The Camp Counselor works under the supervision of the Camp & Activity Director.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Plans, organizes, and implements a variety of activities for assigned group of campers to engage them physically, emotionally, and creatively.
Ensures the safety and physical and emotional wellbeing of all campers.
Uses strong supervision techniques at all times during the day at camp and on out-of-camp field trips.
Creates a fun, welcoming atmosphere in which campers can feel happy, secure, and grow.
Adheres to and upholds all camp rules and regulations.
Collaborates, shares responsibility, and utilizes teamwork with co-counselor and other counselors.
Communicates in a professional manner with Camp Directors concerning camper or personal matters.
Communicates daily in a professional manner with campers parents.
Actively participates in camp games, activities, and programs alongside campers.
QUALIFICATIONS
Necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Desire to work with preschool or school-age children indoors and outdoors in a summer camp setting.
Willing to be trained and certified to perform CPR and first aid.
Willing to wear appropriate swim attire as directed and get in the water to assist lifeguards with the supervision of campers during possible pool days.
Ability to lead and direct children in a positive manner.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other counselors.
Ability to communicate effectively with children, counselors, Camp Directors, and parents.
Ability to separate and create a balance between work and personal life.
Ability to set a good example for campers in behavior, cleanliness, and appearance.
Education and Experience
Must be at least age 16 by June 9, 2025
Experience with children of preschool or school age.
Must possess a current CPR certification or the ability to become CPR certified through the Community & Recreation Center by June 9, 2025.
Must secure FBI, Child Abuse, and Criminal History Clearances before start date.
