Security Guard
Position Summary:
Monitors and patrols assigned areas to provide a safe environment for residents, guests, and employees. Minimizes opportunities for loss or damage. Anticipates potential problems and reacts to disturbances and prohibited conduct. Responds to emergency situations as needed. Provides maintenance of property as needed.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Maintain complete knowledge and comply with all department policies, service procedures and standards.
- Ensure that standards are maintained at a superior level daily.
- Anticipate residents’ needs, respond promptly, and acknowledge all residents and guests.
- Always maintain positive resident relations.
- Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of assigned work areas.
- Review department log records and be familiar with pertinent information relevant to the daily shift.
- Review the residence status and follow up actions with the previous shift officer.
- Ensure that after-hours access into secured residence areas is properly authorized, monitored, and documented.
- Work with outside agencies (i.e., police, fire, EMT).
- Coordinate emergency situations.
- Contact the Security Supervisor, Executive Director & Maintenance Director immediately for emergency situations.
- Investigate duress alarms.
- Patrol the property with specified equipment, checking all designated points and document all actions taken.
- Resolve safety hazard situations.
- Assist residents with room access.
- Investigate suspicious persons on property.
- Conduct designated investigations into theft or lost items, noise complaints, assault complaints, and other resident complaints, complete documented reports.
- Respond to the scene of external guests and internal guest accidents promptly.
- Report to scenes of vehicle accidents/thefts and document specified information.
- Maintain confidentiality of all security and residence reports/documents; release information only to authorized individuals.
- Communicate by radio or cellphone with designated personnel.
- All other duties as required of Security.
- Duties associated with maintenance to include upkeep and cleanliness of property, including common areas, structure and mechanical systems knowledge.
Maintain Complete Awareness Of:
- House content
- Residence facilities and services
- Hours of operation
- Facility layout
- Fire and Emergency plans
- Department rules of conduct
Physical Job Requirements
- To fulfill job requirements, employee must be able to perform key physical tasks for extended periods of time. Proper body mechanics and safety measures as prescribed by the residence must be used.
In a Typical Eight-hour Day, Employee Will:
- Walk up to six hours a day
- Sit up to two hours a day
- Frequently support up to 50 pounds
- Frequently lift/carry up to 20 pounds
