About the Job:
The Litigation Analyst will support the General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer on a variety of legal and litigation matters, including but not limited to management of replevin actions, litigation management and support, subpoena responses, and repossession request review and analysis. He or she will not only support Corporate Counsel with legal and litigation matters but will also interface and collaborate with team members of the Loss Recovery Department to initiate and manage replevin actions. In addition, this role will assist with management of outside counsel and will be responsible for preparing exhibits, drafts of pleadings, discovery responses, and other legal documents. This position will report directly to the General Counsel/Chief Compliance Officer of Toyota Industries Commercial Finance (TICF).
What You’ll Do:
- Manage and organize replevin action files, including assignment of outside counsel, information gathering, assistance with document production, composing reports for counsel regarding various aspects of a matter.
- Review repossession requests and provide recommendations to business.
- Prepare demand letters under the guidance of corporate counsel.
- Manage legal billing platform, LegalTracker, and serve as administrator for TICF.
- Support litigation efforts, including review of pleadings, discovery responses, tracking deadlines, and management of outside counsel.
- Support the management of outside counsel, including review of fee agreements, budgeting and monitoring.
- Support internal process and procedures for reported customer fraud matters.
- Organize and prepare responses to subpoenas.
Qualifications You’ll Need:
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- 5 years’ experience in a corporate law department and/or law firm experience required.
- Strong, broad experience in replevin actions required, including understanding the replevin process and key milestones to a replevin legal action.
- Experience with multi-state commercial financing and/or financial services companies is preferred.
- Interest in developing legal expertise in new substantive areas
- Strong writing and analytical skills required
- Strong computer skills: Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Exceptional organizational skills; good detail orientation
- Self-starter; ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Highly professional; strong interpersonal skills
- Strong teamwork orientation
- Demonstrated experience in process development and creating efficient workflow in a fast-paced transactional environment
- Experience in legal technology implementation and system administration desirable (i.e. records management, document management, matter management systems).
