Team description
Research and Development (R&D) in Europe is responsible for the planning, the development and the production of attractive, superior quality cars matching European market requirements. R&D aims to strengthen the Toyota product & image in Europe.
The Powertrain software control Department is part of the Powertrain division. Our core activity is the definition of the Powertrain Electronic Control Unit (ECU) control logics & parameter values in order to meet and exceed the various requirements placed upon modern vehicles.
While our key focus today is on Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEV), we are expanding our range of applications including Plug-In Hybrid Electric vehicles (PHEV) and Battery Electric Vehicles (BEV).
Furthermore, in order to fulfil regulatory requirements and continuously improve our product power, we develop processes to collect representative market data, confirm the quality/plausibility of the data, perform effective analysis of the data and reflect conclusions to vehicle development.
Finally, building on our core competencies in system control, we are expanding our area of influence to new applications with focus on Real-Time Big Data (RTBD), Data Science and Machine Learning with the aim to improve the customer products/services and maximize our operational efficiency.
Your responsibilities
- Plan and follow-up test campaigns on laboratory facilities, e.g. Engine Bench, Chassis Dynamometer and on road testing.
- Develop vehicle control logics with a main focus on either system / drive & charge / battery control while ensuring functional safety & cyber security requirements
- Develop, improve (including digitalization tools) and standardize processes and methodologies towards usage by other Toyota Powertrain development teams worldwide and other related departments/divisions.
- Visualisation of the results and creation of reporting material.
- Identify the root cause for market issues and propose appropriate counter measures.
Your Profile
- You are fluent in English (TME’s business language)
- You have a Master’s degree System control / automotive engineering or relevant studies.
- Very good understanding and knowledge of electrified powertrain fundamentals (including battery technology) & testing methodologies
- Experience on system control in electrified powertrain development.
- Model Based Development knowledge/experience is an asset.
- Good knowledge and programming skills in MATLAB/Simulink, NI Diadem.
- Big data analysis and/or other programming skills (eg Python) can be considered an asset.
- Strong MS Office skills (especially Excel, Word, Powerpoint), ability to create high quality material for presentations and reporting.
- Strong analytical skills, perseverance, and the ability to work autonomously. Capability to manage multiple challenging tasks in a self-reliant way. Flexible team player, open personality, spirit to challenge and explore uncharted territories.
- Owner of a driving license for passenger car, valid for EU.
