Who we're looking for
Toyota's Purchasing Supplier Development (PSD) Buying Department is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Purchasing Analyst.
The primary responsibility of this role is to develop sourcing strategies, perform cost analysis and negotiation to ensure our Supplier Partners are compensated fairly while maintaining Toyota's competitive advantage through its North American supply chain.
The person in this role will support PSD's objective to develop our outsourced supply base to ensure overall best cost, quality, manufacturability, and operational self-reliance.
This position is located in Saline, Michigan.
What you'll be doing
- Develop sourcing strategies to maximize supply base efficiency.
- Participate in early design work to optimize the part design / manufacturing environment through Value Engineering analysis.
- Establish and assess cost metrics to ensure a consistent, efficient approach to pricing, including timely payment issuance.
- Negotiate with Supplier Partners for cost savings and / or avoidance utilizing tools such as : competitive benchmarking, detailed cost element analysis and variance from a known starting point.
- Report accurately and on time to all project milestones including reporting up through top management on target creation and achievement, as well as negotiation of all design changes.
- Lead Annual Price Review activities with Supplier Partners to promote deep understanding of cost drivers with a focus on Manufacturing Improvement.
- Understand and analyze respective commodity market trends to ensure Toyota is using the right supplier candidates and technologies.
- Develop and manage Supplier Partner relationships to support key performance indicator achievement.
