Key Responsibilities
The Engineering Co-op will be responsible for completing and leading the closure of a full 8 step problem solving report following Toyota's Business Practices. Co-op will work in conjunction with an engineering mentor to learn Toyota's 8 steps of problem solving and drive customer satisfaction through the activity.
Co-op will support the local engineering and manufacturing teams in preparations for an upcoming vehicle model change. Co-op will support equipment lay-out studies using AutoCAD, support our equipment team with press upgrades, review stamping die proposals, and prepare our department for a seamless model launch.
Co-op projects can range from targeting cost or defect reductions, improving machine efficiency, collecting and analyzing production data, re-designing parts / components for improved manufacturability, analyzing / improving floor layouts, implementing safety checks and processes, among many other projects and responsibilities.
Students will work on a variety of engineering assignments in the following group :
Manufacturing
Stamping & Quality
Upon completion of the assignment, the co-op will have the opportunity to report out to plant level executives on their assignment learnings, reflections, activities, and problem solving.
Location :
This position will be located at Toyota Auto Body California (TABC) in Long Beach, CA
Qualifications :
- Currently enrolled in a full-time, accredited Bachelor's or above degree program studying Mechanical Engineering
- Sophomores or above that are able to work two or more semesters / quarters
- Have a working knowledge of AutoCAD or similar CAD software
- Cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher
- Have reliable transportation as co-ops may be traveling among our various facilities
- Have lawful unlimited authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
Preferences :
Added bonus if the experience is in Automotive manufacturing
The annual base salary range for this position is
51,500.00 - $83,700.00
