Who We’re Looking For
Toyota’s Environmental and Facilities (E&F) Department is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Environmental Engineer.
The primary responsibility of this role is to collaboratively support the Toyota Motor North America – Research & Development - Michigan and Calty Environmental Operations.
Reporting to the TMNA R&D Environmental Operations Manager, where the primary responsibility of the Environmental Operations group is to protect the environment, to ensure compliance with local, state and federal regulatory requirements related to air, water, materials and waste, and to ensure conformance to Toyota Environmental standards, policies and procedures. The role of this position will include the support needed to meet Toyota’s Challenge 2050 targets, and improve TMNA R&D MI’s cost competitiveness
What You’ll Be Doing
Bachelor of Science (or higher) in Environmental Eng., Chemical Eng. or Occupational Safety and Health Management 3 year’s of experience with the following:

What You’ll Be Doing
- Support daily operations to ensure environmental compliance with all Environmental Regulations
- Evaluate compliance issues related to Environmental Regulations and implement appropriate countermeasures
- Lead guidance for the on-site waste management contractor
- Lead water and wastewater management processes to ensure conformance to all State and Federal regulations
- Lead R & D Environmental Management System to ensure conformity with current ISO 14001 standard
- Lead R & D operations departments to achieve annual Environmental KPIs
- Support Toyota Environmental Challenge 2050 KPI achievement
- Develop procedures for R & D Operations in the procuring, handling and disposable of new materials related to battery testing
- Lead problem solving activities and implementing systems to support compliance and KPIs
- Coordinate training programs to be following Regulatory Requirements and Toyota Standards
- Environmental management in a manufacturing setting
- Environmental Compliance Management
- Managing Environmental Management Systems
- Material evaluation experience, including SDS information.
- Executive report preparation & presentation
- Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, TEAMS and Outlook)
- This position requires driving. A motor vehicle record that’s acceptable by company standards is required for this position for occasionally driving to the multiple R&D sites in Michigan and around the sites.
- Experience building reports/flows in Microsoft PowerBi and/or Power Automate
- Experience leading projects and working collaboratively across company and multiple functions
- Good verbal and writing communication skills
- Good organizational skills
- Fundamental skills of problem-solving and desire to improve/kaizen
