The Retail Car Buyer is responsible for acquiring vehicles that align with customer demand and the dealership’s inventory strategy. This role involves sourcing, evaluating, and negotiating the purchase of vehicles, with a focus on quality and profitability.
Key Responsibilities :
- Sourcing Vehicles : Identify and procure vehicles from our database, service drive, trade-ins, for sale by owner and other sources to maintain a diverse inventory.
- Market Research : Analyze market trends and customer preferences to inform purchasing decisions and optimize inventory levels.
- Vehicle Appraisal : Assess vehicles' conditions, market value, and potential resale value to make informed buying decisions.
- Negotiation : Negotiate purchase agreements to secure the best possible prices while maintaining profitability for the dealership.
- Inventory Management : Collaborate with sales teams to understand customer demands and adjust purchasing strategies accordingly.
- Documentation : Complete all necessary paperwork for vehicle acquisitions, ensuring compliance with dealership policies and legal requirements.
- Relationship Building : Establish and maintain strong relationships with service and sales department personnel to enhance sourcing opportunities.
- Reporting : Maintain accurate records of purchases and provide regular updates to management regarding inventory and purchasing strategies.
- High school diploma or equivalent; a degree in business, finance, or a related field is preferred.
- Previous experience in automotive retail, purchasing, or a related field.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Familiarity with automotive market trends and pricing.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and dealership management software.
- Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
