Who we’re looking for

Toyota’s Production Engineering Battery Department is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Seibi Technician/Engineering Technician Position.

The primary responsibility of this position is to execute as the North American initial machine set-up personnel (SV), increase Operation Availability (OA) through continuous improvement and problem-solving technical issues. This role will also support the Battery Department's objective to execute capital projects from planning thru Start of Production (SOP) by modifying machine function and design.

This position will be located at TBMNC in Liberty, NC and report to the Seibi Manager for Battery.

Successful candidate must be effective at identifying and removing barriers that hinder progress of project. Candidate must decide appropriate work priorities, developing and executing schedule for said priorities and reporting their status to management group.

What you’ll be doing

  • Test and repair electrical equipment or systems. (Involving circuits, relay logic, wiring, motors, servo drives, etc.)

  • Writing programs and modify existing programs for programmable logic controllers (PLC), robots, cameras, safety systems, and other electronic equipment.

  • Troubleshooting and repair machine components of hydraulics and pneumatics.

  • Plan and execute machine integration into mass production. (Leveling, adjustment and quality conformation for assigned work area)

  • Perform basic administrative skills including documentation of work performed by written/electronic methods.

  • Problem solving and continuously improvement of safety, quality, and productivity.

  • Develop detailed schedule for assigned work area / project.

  • Demonstrate the ability to learn new processes by different means.

  • Supporting Machine trials at vendors and internal to Toyota locations.

  • Certify Safety of Equipment per the standards via “Safety Integrity Check”

What you bring

  • Industrial Controls Engineer/Engineering Tech experience in a manufacturing environment, including equipment installation, modification, and optimization

  • Experience with electrical and/or mechanical systems in an industrial manufacturing environment

  • Strong ability to write programs and modify existing programs for programmable logic controllers (PLC)

  • Working experience with Servo Motion Controllers (M-Code or SFC)

  • Technical experience with relay logic including wiring and troubleshooting

  • Experience with Hydraulic or Pneumatic troubleshooting and schematic reading

  • Availability to work overtime, holidays, weekends, and shutdowns up to 30%.

  • Business travel, both domestic and international - up to 30%.

  • Ability to stand, stoop, and walk throughout a large industrial manufacturing plant for many hours of the day.

  • Ability to ascend & descend stairs throughout a large industrial manufacturing plant.

  • Ability to bend, kneel and crawl to gain access to equipment for repair

  • Ability to lift, push and pull 25 pounds in a one-time event

  • The ideal candidate must be able to complete all physical requirements of the job with or without a “reasonable accommodation.”

Added bonus if you have:

  • Technical associate degree or higher or equivalent experience

  • Experience in Pre-Production set up

  • Experience gathering and analyzing quality data from multiple sources to determine root cause.

  • Experience with high volume production in a clean room environment.
