Summary/Objective (role description):

The role of the Production Control Manager is to develop and manage the overall production planning activities for the plant maximizing customer service, delivery, production utilization, material and inventory control, and service parts transfer.

Essential Functions (duties and tasks summary):

Team members must be able to perform, with or without reasonable accommodations, the essential functions of the role which may include, but are not limited to the following:

• Manage inventory levels including, establishing goals, rotating stock, managing component parts purchasing and supply base, and developing methods and procedures.
• Develop long-range planning initiatives for production control group, which include continuously evaluating the plant’s needs, capacities, capital, expenses, Hoshin, etc. to meet the growth goals.
• Establish effective communication with PC Team and various groups such as customers, business development production departments etc. to ensure on-time delivery of products and team support.
• Minimize interruptions to production schedules through effective parts and materials procurement practices.
• Provide Leadership, training and development opportunities for members of the Production Control team as required to sharpen the team’s performance skills presently and in the future.
• Work on maintaining and developing network system, which allows access to the plant’s manufacturing systems to streamline information and generate reports.
• Management shipping and receiving activities to assure timely delivery to internal and external customers. Process documentation of received and shipped information.
• Develop & coordinate cost reduction activities to achieve yearly targets
• Develop and control costs, plans, budget, and Hoshin planning.
• Establish and monitor overall area performance.
• Incorporate shop floor organization and plant cleanliness (5-S) among plant personnel.
• Incorporate TPS production system
• Develop/establish management documents and index to distinguish between normal and abnormal situations so that appropriate measures can be implemented.

Work Environment (example):

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be exposed to conditions of heat in the summer and cold in the winter and will work near moving mechanical parts. Uniform clothing and PPE provisions are provided by the company and are designed to assist with these conditions. Team members are also exposed to noise, which may require the use of hearing protection in certain areas.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work (example):

This is a full-time shift-work position. Overtime is required as needed to meet customer demand and may involve weekend work.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field and 8-10 years previous manufacturing experience. Experience should include supervisory, management role, or equivalent (gained through a combination of education and experience).
