Job Title: Event Production Manager with Expertise in Sound, Lighting, and Video

Location: 245 Bell Rd, Niles, MI 49120

Position Type: Full Time

Reports To: Ken Kuespert, Owner

Job Overview: The Event Production Manager with expertise in sound, lighting, and video is responsible for overseeing the planning, coordination, and execution of live events, ensuring all technical aspects align with the event's objectives. This role requires a deep understanding of audio, lighting, and video technologies, combined with strong leadership and organizational skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Technical Planning and Execution: Develop and implement comprehensive technical plans for events, including sound, lighting, and video setups, ensuring alignment with the event's vision and objectives.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and coordinate technical teams, including audio engineers, lighting technicians, and video specialists, fostering a collaborative and efficient work environment.
  • Vendor and Supplier Coordination: Negotiate and manage contracts with technical vendors and suppliers, ensuring timely delivery and setup of equipment and services.
  • Budget Management: Create and manage budgets for technical aspects of events, ensuring cost-effective solutions without compromising quality.
  • On-Site Management: Oversee the setup, operation, and breakdown of technical equipment during events, ensuring seamless integration and functionality.
  • Client and Stakeholder Liaison: Communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders to understand technical requirements and provide expert recommendations.
  • Compliance and Safety: Ensure all technical operations comply with safety regulations and industry standards, conducting regular equipment checks and maintenance.
  • Problem-Solving: Address and resolve any technical issues that arise during events, implementing proactive solutions to minimize disruptions.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay updated with the latest advancements in audio, lighting, and video technologies, integrating innovative solutions to enhance event experiences.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in event production with a focus on sound, lighting, and video, including at least 2 years in a managerial role.
  • Skills:
  • Proficiency in operating and troubleshooting audio, lighting, and video equipment.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Exceptional organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • In-depth knowledge of event production processes and technical requirements.
  • Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing environments.
  • Proficiency in event management and technical design software.
  • Work Schedule: Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and travel as required by event schedules.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Comfortable working in various environments, including outdoor settings and crowded venues.

Compensation:

  • Competitive salary based on experience; range 60-75k per year.

TPC Production Manager Specific Tasks

Gear:

Direct gear maintenance and repairs. Help decide which repairs are done in house and which are sent out. Provide support locating parts if necessary. Guide gear updates and facilitate new gear choices. Implement smooth gear changes and transitions. Facilitate updates in inventory system and appropriate assigning of gear to events. Make recommendations when shortages exist.

Staff:

Facilitate training and provide resources for skill improvement. Hire to fill job openings. Delegate tasks. Provide feedback and performance assessments. Give input on employee pay rates and raises. Solve disputes, build team rapport and grow synergy. Empower employees to meet challenges and coach them to make tough decisions. Assign staff to events according to skill set, availability, and employee/company development goals. Lead by example, working shoulder-to-shoulder with employees at hot, cold, dirty, and challenging assignments, not just when the job is easy. Encourage staff when they are struggling. Approve time off requests, track vacation time.

Events:

Manage events from start to finish, with pre-event tasks, producing events live, and follow up with post event tasks. Troubleshoot problems, suggest alternative solutions, make difficult decisions. Design events. Meet with clients to understand their goals, choose gear to meet those needs. Advise clients to help make technical, aesthetic, and transitionary choices that achieve their goals. Understand cable paths and plan for them. Revise traditional plans to economize and increase efficiency in staff time and effort of deployment. Craft floor plans.

Technical:

Understand power requirements of gear and capabilities of venues and make choices according to client need and safety regulations. Understand rigging/load/elevation/weight requirements of gear and capabilities of venue and make choices according to client need and safety regulations. Same tasks for stage, audio, video, and lighting aspects of events.

Sales:

Liaise with clients to help them understand costs and advise them in choosing options that meet budget requirements as well as event goals. Network and build new and existing relationships to ensure booking of events. Seek new venues, customers, and rentals. Quote events, make smart choices about discounts/partnerships/sponsorships to maintain existing relationships and ensure continued business. Repair damaged relationships. Direct marketing efforts and creation of marketing materials according to sales goals and growing relationship opportunities. Update client information in gear inventory system.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
